Dr. Adrianna swailes PT, DPT

Meet A.J.:

Adrianna (A.J.) grew up in the Overland Park, KS area where she spent majority of her time in a gym, training as an elite gymnast. Injuries were a large part of what ended her career, sparking an interest in injury prevention and physical therapy.  After she achieved her bachelors and master’s degrees at Kansas State University, she was accepted at St. Mary University where she obtained her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Outside of work A.J. likes to spend time with her family, do outdoor activities and loves food. She recently married Austin, her husband, on February 29th, 2020. What differentiates A.J. is not only her unique skill set as a gymnast, but her spunk and infectious personality. A.J. is enthusiastic in all that she does, especially when it comes to helping others reach their maximum potential and keeping athletes in the sports they love. Her ability to relate to and encourage others in achieving their goals is unmatched.

What's the best part of your story so far?

My family, they are the best part of me! They have always motivated and encouraged me in everything I do. I am where I am today from my faith and support of my family.

What organization or company inspires you and why?

Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. I believe this organization truly has the potential to reach so many lives and give children greater opportunity and support they may need.

What is something no one would ever believe to be true about you?

Sometimes I snort when I laugh, especially when I am laughing really hard.

What are you passionate about related to the work you do in serving others?

I love helping people get back to their lives and the things they want to do with less limitation and pain. This is especially true in athletes and helping them return to their sport. This started when I was back in gymnastics and had many injuries along the way. I want to help athletes learn how to return from injuries and learn techniques to help prevent future injuries.

What are you doing when you feel most like you?

Any activity outdoors where I can run around with as much energy as I want!

In an alternative life, what would you want to try?

Being a chef.
