Marisa Williams was born and raised in Shawnee, Kansas, and is the middle child between her sister and brother. She’s currently a junior at the University of Kansas, where she’s majoring in Exercise Science on a Pre-Physical Therapy track.

One of the best parts of Marisa’s story so far was being baptized last July, surrounded by her best friend and family—a moment that strengthened her faith and perspective on life. She describes herself as hardworking, compassionate, and creative, qualities that shine through in her studies and her role at Freedom.

Most people are surprised to learn that Marisa is a second-degree black belt in karate! She’s passionate about helping others feel like the best version of themselves and making sure they feel seen, supported, and validated through every stage of their journey.

When she’s not at Freedom or studying, you’ll likely find her reading before bed—a habit she’s working on to spend less time on her phone and more time relaxing—or on the golf course enjoying some quiet time outdoors.
