Bethany Dequine

Bethany was born and raised in Shawnee, Kansas, spending most of her time running, playing basketball, or volunteering. For college, she was the first in her family to venture out of state, attending Azusa Pacific University in Southern California.

To demonstrate her tenacity, Bethany completed a five-year degree in just three years while still finding time to run a marathon, study abroad, plan a wedding, and get married.

After five years in California and a year in private accounting, Bethany and her husband, Dr. Donny Dequine, returned to Shawnee with a shared vision: to bring restoration and function to a community passionate about health, fitness, and movement. Together, they founded Freedom Physical Therapy and Training Center—a place built on family, faith, and a love for helping others thrive.

For Bethany, the best part of her story has always been her support system. She’s deeply grateful for her family’s love and guidance, and credits her parents for instilling the values of hard work, discipline, and integrity. Her husband, Donny, continues to inspire her to be confident, daring, and courageous—qualities that show up every day in how she leads and serves others.

Bethany finds inspiration in Lululemon Athletica for their focus on balanced living—encouraging people to grow in fitness, career, and personal goals. It’s a culture she strives to cultivate at Freedom, where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered to pursue meaningful change.

Most people are surprised to learn that she’s afraid of public speaking, though she’s more than willing to step up when needed. She’s passionate about using her finance and business leadership to ensure Freedom continues to provide affordable, high-quality care for those who need it most. To her, numbers tell a story of impact and purpose—of helping others live stronger, healthier lives.

Bethany feels most like herself when she’s serving others, mentoring teammates, or coaching, finding joy in being part of a team working toward something bigger. In another life, she says she’d love to try being a gymnast, admiring their discipline, strength, and grace—even if she could do without the blisters.
